Corporate portal "Beltopgas"

Project status

Currently version 1.3 is being developed. Release is planned for January 2011.

Technologies

The portal is based on CMS Drupal and uses open source modules as well as custom modules to provide required functionality. Several samples of screenshots are below. The project extensively uses LAMP related and other technologies, such as Zend framework, jQuery, XML, etc. MySQL database is heavily used - it keeps about 50 millions of records per year. Reports and graphs require realtime filtering of large amount of data so we had to optimize SQL queries and the DB structure to handle this load.

Our team uses agile-like methodology in this project. In particular frequent iterations are used and this way client is continuously involved in development process. After having first approximate description of functionality to be developed our team creates basicly functional prototype and shows it to end-users. After that several iterations of prototype adjustments are made and finally it turns out into production module.

Description

The company "Beltopgas" is the only natural gas distributor in Belarus. The portal collects and presents information from different sources within the corporate network of the company and provides its employees with requested data in a convenient way. This includes:

  • Financial reporting - the application automating creation, editing and submission of financial reports. Uses flexible XML-based report templates and Excel-like user friendly GUI.
  • Natural gas consumers database - list of all consumers in the republic with attached data, such as location, equipment, capacities. Consumers associated with other applications, such as telemetry data and distribution networks maps.
  • Telemetry data from natural gas distribution network - realtime and historical data acquired from different telemetry devices and accumulated in the database. Reporting, filtering and graph representation are available to users.
  • Maps and plans of gas distribution network - geographic maps of distribution networks with links to local networks plans and consumers.
  • Corporate messaging - documentation distribution and announcement system featuring groups of users, distribution lists, access control, reading confirmation, notifications.
  • Corporate users database - contains all the employees of Beltopgas and it's departments over the country.
